Hot Air Balloon Safari

Hot Air Balloon ride is something which we all as kids read in Enid Blyton stories and other childhood fantasies narrated by chocolate authors. It was Joseph Michael and Jacques Etienne who first built a balloon which could carry passengers. Since then hot air balloons have evolved and now modern-day balloons can soar to great heights and offer panoramic views from top.

It is always a great feel which an individual may draw by hopping into the balloon basket and holding on to the brim for a nice midair ride, thus making one feel ecstatic and on top of the world (literally). Abroad, this experience has been in existence since time immemorial. However, in the most recent times India too has roped in this mesmerizing experience for us all to derive the ultimate delightful experience.

Hot-air ballooning is a relatively new adventure in India and Rajasthan and Maharashtra are among the few places in India where hot air ballooning is commercially organized for people. Most people know Rajasthan for its grand temples, forts, majestic palaces and serene lakes. Tourists flocking at Jaipur, Pushkar, and Ranthambore can surely enjoy hot air ballooning over the sandy and rugged terrain of Rajasthan. At Jaipur one can drift slowly over the Amber Fort and blend subtly with the historical forts and hidden palaces neatly perched within the bosoms of Aravalli Ranges, while capturing spellbinding view of the villages below accentuated by smiles of the locals. At Ranthambore, which is home to the majestic Tiger this fantasy flight commences from the outskirts of the National Park and slowly foraying above the lush Green and pristine forest area below. The view is simply awesome and allows the shutterbugs to capture some precious shots. Pushkar, considered as one of the holiest cities is where you can actually capture your own reflection while drifting in the Balloon over its lake. At Pushkar one can also avail this ride during the famous annual Pushkar Cattle Fair which is the largest Camel fair in the World. Flights are launched from different points within the city based on weather conditions. The other famous festival is Nagaur Cattle festival where too once can grab an opportunity. September to June are the months to enjoy this ride in Rajasthan.

In Maharashtra one can enjoy hot air balloon ride at Lonavala, a hill station merely an hour and twenty minutes from Mumbai is nestled in the esoteric Sahyadri Ranges. Sky Waltz offers its flight designed to sail you gently through the stunning valleys, amongst tall cliffs and luscious lakes below. All this happens while you catch glimpse of a patchwork of natural colors and contours encompassing this region. This venue is indeed a hot spot for people living in close nests at Mumbai and Pune.

The period between October and March is the best time to enjoy hot air ballooning as the cold climate makes the hot air inside the balloon lighter and enables it to rise and stay up for a longer period of time.

Inflate your dreams and let them soar high, Witness the beauty of blue city from the sky!!
