Mr. Satyansh from Tappas Voyages visited Riwai village in Shillong.

Shillong is home for a natural forests, some of them are made of real, living roots of trees. One such living root bridge is located in Riwai village, few kilometres before Mawlynnong - Asia's cleanest village. It is approximately 80 kms from Shillong and is well connected by road, however it is advisable to a taxi since public transportation is not up to the mark.

A 15 minutes walk from Riwai through the forest buffer area, and you arrive at the bridge that has been there for generations situated on a enchanting man made forest with river flowing in the middle. Khasi community of Meghalaya takes pride in maintaining this bridge that is full of natural roots of a massive banyan tree. The tangled trunk is quite enthralling and roots combined with bamboo and natural stones makes it mesmerising for photography.

Further down from the bridge is tree house from where one could see plains of neighbouring Bangladesh.

It is certainly worth visiting if you are traveling to Meghalaya!
