The Pushkar Camel & Cultural Fair

This Camel & Cultural fair in Rajasthan is indeed a grand event cherished with life bubbling with activities that circumvent a plethora of cultural and musical events, in addition to some lifetime thrills in form of camel safari tours. This year in 2016, the hustle and bustle of the annual Panorama would be witnessed from 8th to 16th November, comprising of bounteous and gratifying festivities at the Pushkar Camel & Cultural Fair which take its horizons to another level, thus epitomizing Rajasthan on global map for its vibrancy and culture galore. The world famous Pushkar Fair is incidentally termed as one of the largest cattle fair on the planet.

Pushkar is considered to be one of the top five sacred dhams for the Hindus. The sacred waters here are considered at par with the waters of the Mansarovar Lake situated on way to Mount Kailash, the abode of Lord Shiva. Pushkar, a place marked on the world tourist map is most renowned for being a Hindu pilgrim center, as this is the only place in world which has Brahma temple. Brahma is the creator of universe as per Hindu mythology, Lord Vishnu being the preserver and Lord Shiva the destroyer. The three put together are known as Trimurti.

The holy city of Pushkar is placed in Ajmer district of Rajasthan, a state in India known for the Sand Dunes of Thar and camels galore. Being one of the oldest cities of India, Pushkar lies on the shore of the sacrosanct Pushkar Lake. The actual date of its origin is however, unknown, but legend associates Lord Brahma with its creation.

As a major attraction, tourists who visit Pushkar Lake witness pilgrims who flock to take a holy dip here during Kartik Purnima, the full moon night falling between October and November each year. Folklore says that Lord Brahma had sprung up on the surface of this lake during Kartik Purnima, hence it is considered pious and sacred to take a holy bath on this day. Beside Hindu pilgrims thousands of foreign tourists pay their visit to have a Holy dip in this hallowed lake formed with the ethereal touch of Brahma's lotus petals, which is believed to have bestowed miraculous healing powers to the water.

The kaleidoscopic palette depicts a cultural diversity which is a key highlight and enthralls the public all across Rajasthan and beyond.
